GitGym Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-10
GitGym (“the app”) is a learning app for practicing Git and GitHub commands. The app does not collect personal information such as your name or email address. However, to offer the app for free it shows ads, and Google may collect information to deliver them (see “About ads” below).
Information the app does not collect
The app itself does not collect or transmit any of the following.
- Personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number
- Location, contacts, photos, or microphone / camera data
- Usage analytics
The app has no accounts and no sign-in.
Information stored on your device
Your progress (cleared stages, stars, best quiz scores), your settings (language, appearance), and a counter used to decide how often an ad is shown are stored only on your device. They are not sent to the developer or to any ad provider. Deleting the app deletes this information. You can also reset your stars from the settings screen.
About ads
The app shows ads using Google AdMob. To deliver ads, measure their performance, and prevent fraud, Google may collect your advertising identifier (IDFA), IP address, device information, and information about the ads (including video ads) you view or tap. Google handles this information under its own privacy policy. The developer does not have access to personally identifiable information that Google collects.
- App tracking permission: on iOS the app asks for “tracking” permission on first launch so ads can be more relevant to you. The app works fully even if you decline (the ads you see will be less relevant). You can change this anytime in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- Consent: in the EU, the UK, Switzerland, and similar regions, the app shows a screen to confirm your consent for ads, as required by law.
- Your progress and settings are not used to deliver ads.
Network communication
Every command exercise runs on your device. The “GitHub” screens and actions are a simulation inside the app and do not connect to the real GitHub. The app communicates with Google to deliver ads. The “Send feedback” and “Privacy policy” rows in the settings screen open the corresponding page in your device’s browser.
Sharing with third parties
Because the app does not collect personal information, it does not share it with third parties. The information that the ad provider (Google) collects is described in “About ads” above.
Changes
When this policy changes, this page will be updated. Before adding features such as purchases, we will explain how data is handled on this page.
Contact
Information you submit through the contact form is used only to reply and to improve the app, and is not shared with third parties.
